It's A....It's A Get To Know Ya...In 2008

Well, first and foremost, I hope you all had an enjoyable New Year's and happy 2008. Since Christmas I have been a been busy working and putting together (and then rewriting) cover letters thus doing a HUGE mailing late last week. I must say I had a wonderful holiday season which, sadly, is ending today. Today is my Russian Orthodox Christmas, thus winding up the holidays for me. And of course, to any others who celebrate Orthodox Christmas...Merry Christmas.

For New Years I had to work, which for some that was a bummer, but I actually had a great time. I was bartending at Voodoo Lounge (on 5th Ave. in Brooklyn...check it out...it's awesome) and even though I was working for over 12 hours, went home with a smile on my face and a fat wallet. Nice. And to make the night better, my wonderful boyfriend and great friend, Dave, came in. Good times had by all.

I haven't been up to much lately but I do have some theatre news. I am participating in a great production called "Church" which is part of a theatre festival (Under The Radar) being held at The Public Theatre January 9-20th (www.undertheradarfestival.com). It's been a lot of fun and being able to see the production today was great. It's a smart and witty play written and directed by Young Jean Lee. The description of the show (as stated directly out of the Under The Radar booklet) explains the show as follows:

"Playwright and director Young Jean Lee transforms her life-long struggle with Christianity into an exuberant church service designed to test the expectations of the religious and no-religious alike. Using music, dancing, and preaching, four liberal Evangelical Christian ministers with a taste for the surreal offer God as a solution to the hollowness of contemporary life."

I enjoyed the show immensely and think you will as well. So if you don't have anything to do January 9-19 and don't want to spend more then $15, this is the place to be. Various show times occur each night so make sure you check to see when the show is (again it's www.undertheradarfestival.com or I'm sure you can check out www.publictheatre.org). Hope to see you there and will keep you updated on any other upcoming events.

Here's to a safe, healthy and successful 2008.
