Part II of II: All Caught Up

Well, here we are. The beginning of the end of a very long gap between blogs.

I left off at the end of a busy weekend and relaxing birthday. Now to catch you up on the end of August until now...September 25, 2008....exactly one month after my birthday. My, how time flies.

The rest of my birthday week came and went. I worked that weekend and, as usual, was dead by Sunday. Let me tell you, working a 10-12 hour shift is rough...especially when you're done at 4:30am. That weekend was, personally, one of the roughest weekends to deal with. I had some, and please pardon the language, but some real assholes come in all weekend. I literally hit a breaking point that Sunday and, unbeknownest (I may have spelled that incorrectly) to me, had to stay until 4am again....So 3 days of 4am (or longer) work and people's B.S....I needed time for myself. And that is exactly what I did. For the next 3 days, you found me at the beach. Just sand, sun, and ocean. And I didn't realize how ridiculously close the beach was from my apartment!!!! Had I known that, I would have been at the beach so much more. A girl from Jersey sure does love the beach in the summer time...am I right fellow female Jerzians???? And I, if I may say so myself, had quite the tan after those 3 days were up. Oh what the sun does for you.

Later that week, something else wonderful happened.....I FINALLY began some voice lessons with a wonderful woman named Julia Amissano who lives in the neighborhood. I had seen her flyer at my gym and had taken a slip once before but most likely tossed it in the trash during one of my few "clean up my desk" days. So I had taken another and this time, I actually called her!!! WOOHOO!!! She was gone for the summer but was back at the beginning of September so for the past few weeks now, every Thursday I have been getting voice lessons. And let me tell you something, it's been the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. I have gotten myself used to some pretty nasty vocal habits and Julia is really helping me work through that. I also have a big mental block going on which is affecting my upper range. And any vocalist who has ever been there understands how frustrating it is to know at one time, you had these notes and to now have nothing....UGH!!!! But Julia's patience and guidence is helping me so much and for that I am so grateful.

I've been on a few auditions as well...let's not forget that, shall we??? One was a Disney Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Line. I felt the auditions went well and walked away feeling good about them. At this point, I can only feel good about how my audition went and leave it at that. Pondering too much on something can drive someone a little crazy and I'd rather not be too crazy this early in my life and career.

Honestly, not too much happened after that. I picked up another babysitting job which is great. Getting a few extra bucks here and there really helps out a lot. I also had the pleasure of doing some background work for a commercial a little over a week ago. It was for WalMart/Coke. From what I was hearing around the room, the commercial will be shown in movie theatres around the holidays...so you MIGHT catch a glimpse of me. I'm not one of the lucky SAG members yet.....one day though. I was VVVVVEERRRRYYYY close to getting a feature in that commercial thusly earing a SAG waiver but that was not the case....and everything happens for a reason. What they had me set up to do (and then being replaced by a SAG member) fell through....Just wasn't my time yet. Although the 2nd day of shooting was VERY long and so steaming hot in the location, it was a ton of fun and a great experience. I only hope to do it again in the near future.

My friend's birthday came and went and as a result, a celebration in A.C. was done. And what fun....Haven't done THAT in awhile. Another weekend of work came and went, as did the Emmy's (YEA FOR TINA FEY!!!!!!!!) and now here we are...a month later from the beginning of this blog. September 25, 2008. Today was a busy day that did not consist of work....wait, take that back. It did...how do you think I'm able to write this blog....I'm babysitting. Well, it was a day of a meeting, errands, lesson, and babysitting. Usually my days are gym, work. Good times. I had a consultation with The Network today. I had purchased a seminar package and was waiting to register for anything until after my consultation which was this afternoon. A friend of mine referred me and I have a really great feeling about this company. Think of it as (and this is stereotypically speaking) a sorority or fraternity....that whole "paying for friends" thing only in this case you get to meet casting directors and agents. It's a great way for them to see you and vice versa. I have my first seminar next week and I am really looking forward to it. I'll let you in on that next week...be on the look out for that one.

Other than that folks, it'll be another weekend of work, next week there seem to be a few auditions coming up so I'll be hitting the streats of Manhattan soon and then who knows what. As someone recently said, I'm living a "bohemian lifestyle". So,

Until next time.........................

WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I forgot to mention a couple things.....I can't believe I forgot these....Wow...I must not be 100% focused.

First-At the commercial I just want to say "Hey!!!" to 2 wonderful ladies who I hung out with on the 2 day adaventure...Shelley and Donna. You two were to much fun to hang out with and get to know...I only hope we get to see each other again in the near future.

And Secondly (AND THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!!)......Jon and I got another cat!!!!!!! It's a girl and we named her Hero. She was abandoned this past 9/11 at PetCo. at Union Square. Some jerk just left her in a duffel bag and walked away. Poor thing. But she is so sweet and adorable...and a little fat (Jon has been dying for a fat cat to snuggle and finally got his wish) so yeah...just wanted to share those two things with you. Oh....can't forget to give a big CONGRATS to the newest newlyweds Qui and Abbey (also the writer/producer of one of the coolesst off-off broadway theatres around Vampire/Cowboys...check them out!!!). We had a great time at the wedding....and we need to do dinner and a movie soon!!!!
